Did you buy a home in Florida in 2020?

Don't forget to file for homestead exemption by March 1st so that when your tax bill is issued in November, you have the benefit of the lower tax rate.  The Volusia County Property Appraiser's office reports an average of $400-$600 savings per year. Remember, too, that if you pay your tax bill as soon as you receive it, you'll get a 1% discount.  Pretty nice, right?!

While paying taxes may not be the most pleasant of experiences, the homestead exemption makes the pill just a little easier to swallow.
